Treats are Treats!

Treats are Treats!

CBD pet treats have a multitude of uses for helping ailing pets, from calming anxiety, to relieving joint pain, and even showing results of preventing and reducing signs of cancer. As stated by Nora D. Volkow, director of the National Institute on Drug Abuse, “CBD could potentially aid those suffering from Alzheimer's, stroke, multiple sclerosis, and Parkinson's,” including usage in pets. However, it is also important to recognize situations when CBD pet treats aren’t perhaps the best way to reward or feed your furry friend. Keep reading below for some examples of what we mean:

Replacing Rewards in General

CBD treats are fantastic to both bolster your pet’s well-being and reward them for being good, but consider not making them your sole treat of choice to give. CBD is a wonderful addition to your pet’s diet, and can be considered almost as a vitamin. Like many vitamins, pets only need a certain amount of CBD to have its positive effects come into play. CBD should also be considered a medicine for your pet, and while studies point towards too much CBD not necessarily being a bad thing for your pet, you only need to give your companion the listed dosage and amount, which can be found on the side of the pet treat packaging. So keep in mind: add CBD treats to your pet’s diet, but still keep their other favorites around too!

Replacing Regular Pet Food

While CBD pet snacks are great to feed your furry friends, you want to make sure that they are not the only thing that you are feeding them. CBD treats are best used as between-meal snacks, and not as a primary source of energy and nourishment for your pet. Pet food ensures that they get all the nutrition that they need so that they can function to their very best without relying on any sort of replacement or substitute. And remember, while CBD offers countless amounts of medicinal benefits for your best friends, it should be regarded in the same way as a daily vitamin or medicine. A great addition to your pet’s diet, but certainly not a viable replacement for their regular food.

As The Sole Cure for Serious Ailments

For joint pain, anxiety, appetite issues, and many other things possibly ailing your pet, CBD treats are an incredible remedy for helping them deal with any symptoms that come as a result. In fact, medical evidence points to CBD being able to reduce signs of more serious medical problems in pets, as Gary Richter, DVM, states, treatment using CBD has shown, “... positive results with cancer.” However, currently there is lack of hard evidence pointing towards CBD being able to completely eradicate serious disease in pets, such as cancer. CBD treats are a viable option of reducing struggle and symptoms of serious ailments in your pets, but just like any treatment for severe disease, it is recommended that you consult with your pet’s veterinarian to ensure that your best friend is getting the proper help they need.
